The Landfill Directive

The Environment Agency has a statutory responsibility for the regulation of landfill sites and has the primary responsibility for implementing the landfill regulations. They have introduced a Duty of Care a requirement ensuring that all business waste is handled and disposed of responsibly. Furthermore, the directive states that such waste should only be dealt with by authorised companies who record all wastes received or transferred through a system of signed Waste Transfer Notes.
